Digital Organizer

  • Reports to: Digital Director 
  • Location: Remote (core team in LA)
  • Position: Part-Time, 6-month contract to start with potential to extend, estimated 20 hours/week 
  • Salary Range: $24-$28/hour, Based on Experience (tbd after qualifications, references and interview) 

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW 

Plan C (plancpills.org) is a public health campaign for abortion pill access in the US: providing research-driven information on abortion pills, educating the public on where they’re found and how they’re used for a safe home abortion, and incubating new initiatives that disrupt old barriers to access.   Founded in 2015, Plan C is under the nonprofit fiscal sponsorship of the National Women’s Health Network, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Digital Organizer is responsible for developing and maintaining systems and digital tools for grassroots engagement with Plan C’s national communications campaign: working with volunteers and activating new calls to action on behalf of Plan C’s vision of equitable abortion pill access across the US. 

The Digital Organizer will alongside of a Partnerships Manager and program consultants at Plan C to oversee the Ambassadors of Information Program (plancpills.org/ambassadors): designed to educate and empower volunteers with the information, resources, and activities they need in order to be effective in spreading the word on a grassroots level. The right fit for this role will seize the opportunity to take the Ambassador program to the next level: using modern organizing and communications technology, learnings from other organizer roles, and implementing systems of accountability that ensure every volunteer is engaged, supported, and equipped with the most accurate and relevant information possible. Option to serve as spokesperson for the organization (ex: IG & Fb live, conducting workshops and trainings). Goals for this position will include the number of ambassadors engaged and overall reach.

This position is central to Plan C’s mission and work: using digital communications and social media to amplify information on safe, effective abortion pills, to normalize this modern method of self-care, and to consequently transform the landscape of equitable abortion access in the US.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement strategies for grassroots and volunteer engagement in target verticals of potential volunteers across the US, in tandem with Plan C’s larger communications campaigns;  
  • Volunteer management: develop tools and systems to support, educate and engage volunteers nationwide in learning about and spreading the word about abortion pill access; 
  • Events: planning and management of digital events across time zones;
  • Committees: track and manage “Advanced Ambassador” volunteers (ex: committee leaders) to ensure accountability and also accurate information-sharing and key messaging;
  • Option to serve as public speaker for the organization’s education and volunteer recruitment efforts;

Other:

  • Participate in team meetings (2x weekly or as needed)
  • Promote Plan C’s mission, vision, and strategies to your own networks 
  • Complete reporting as needed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in movement-building and organizing, including outreach and volunteer development and effective communications that inform and inspire action;
  • Experience in implementing grassroots organizing campaigns;
  • Knowledge of reproductive rights issues, including abortion access and how reproductive justice disproportionately affects BIPOC and other minority communities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, training, and facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, multi-task, possess good judgment, and work independently and as part of a team;
  • Willingness to learn new techniques, ideas and skills;
  • Experience in developing leadership/movement building curriculum;
  • Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish/English preferred but not required; and
  • Experience with the media a plus.

The Partnerships Manager is responsible for cultivating and developing new partners with organizations, brands, and other institutions who can amplify and serve as new communications channels for Plan C’s message of safe online abortion pill access. The Partnerships Manager works alongside the Digital Organizer and program consultants at Plan C. The role includes areas of: research and outreach, meeting with organizations to determine fit and scope, then developing and executing on content and communications strategies with follow-up debrief and assessment learnings to apply to future partnerships and initiatives.  

This position is central to Plan C’s mission and work: using digital communications and social media to amplify information on safe, effective abortion pills, to normalize this modern method of self-care, and to consequently transform the landscape of equitable abortion access in the US. 

Key Responsibilities

  • To oversee, develop and execute on strategies toward goals of new partnerships fostered and quantifiable outcomes of communications breadth and reach nationwide;
  • To develop creative marketing and communications materials for potential partners that fits their audience and values while also aligning with Plan C’s overall vision, working alongside Plan C’s social media manager and graphic designer; 
  • To manage partnership relationships, track and report on outcomes and learnings; and produce 
  • Maintain clear organizational files and tracking systems for each partnerships’ impact, from start to finish.
