PlanCPills.org Named Best Activist Website, Webby People’s Choice Awards
We’re thrilled to share some good news from Plan C – we’ve been named the People’s Voice Winner in the Activism category of the Webby Awards for internet excellence! Thank you to everyone who voted and shared our campaign online.
We share this recognition with the many researchers, designers, and advocates who have built and conceived the Plan C website and database over the years. It is equally meaningful that so many people find it a useful resource. We’re currently seeing an average of 115,000 unique views per month, and more than 30% of users click off the site to find resources. Last year the website had 18M impressions in Google search, and this year it has a consistent presence in AI answers to abortion-related questions (although we’re currently working with our movement partners on ways to improve AI answers and make them more accurate and complete).
The Plan C website turns 10 this summer, which leads us to reflect on what the abortion pill landscape looked like in 2016, and what we were up against when we started it. Building this community has not always been easy – in the early days of sharing information on pills by mail self-managed care, we faced doubts from funders, journalists, even providers. But as we navigated the pandemic, the fall of Roe and increased challenges to in-person clinic access, alignment for by-mail methods increased and an ecosystem of support for by-mail and virtual access bloomed.
A decade later, our vision of access has become the reality. Abortion pills are available by mail in all 50 states. Telehealth is increasing, and travel is dropping. According to the #WeCount study, 27% of all abortions were via abortion pills by mail and telehealth last year, or approximately 300,000 abortion services – a figure that was essentially zero just a few years ago. This doesn’t include the substantial number of people accessing pills through alternate routes, and publications like PBS and NPR are now reporting on routes like community networks as a significant point of access to care. Because of these numbers we know that this movement will only continue to grow and that pills by mail are unstoppable.
We’re proud to continue doing this work to gather and share this essential research and information with the public. We see the Webby Award for best Activism website of 2026 as a validating and normalizing moment for the Plan C message, acknowledging how far we’ve all come and creating an opening for further dissemination and adoption in the mainstream.
Please continue to share our website, data, and information campaigns if and when you can. And if you’d like to discuss the abortion landscape for an article, or might be interested in working on a longer profile piece this year, we’re available to discuss.
Thanks so much for your support –
Amy, Angie, Elisa, and the rest of the Plan C team

About Plan C
Plan C does research and shares information on abortion pills by mail and safe self-managed care options in the US.
Since 2015, Plan C has helped to lead the way in normalizing this method, already common in other countries: actively increasing its awareness of direct access to pills by mail and with free and confidential support, from any state. Plan C maintains the only comprehensive, research-based Guide to Pills, which includes both mainstream and alternate routes of access to pills by mail and support. Plan C also runs creative campaigns, works with brands and media, and builds cross-sector partnerships to educate and advocate, make the method more known and available and reach audiences facing the biggest barriers to care. We do this under a vision of disentangling this safe and effective medication from politics, and moving agency over abortion back to the individual seeker.
Plan C is a project under the fiscal sponsorship of Possibility Labs, a 501c3 organization.
