New website is live at plancpills.org

Plan C is thrilled to announce that we just launched a new version of our website at the same domain – plancpills.org.

For over a year, our team has been hard at work redesigning the latest version of the Plan C website and Guide. The abortion pills by mail landscape has expanded rapidly, and we received feedback that led us down a journey to better display the many options and resources that have emerged since we launched the previous site in December 2020.

In addition to a new look/feel, the site has expanded filter options including data on which providers take Medicaid, languages spoken, ages served, and more. The Medicaid filter has extra utility for people wanting to learn what benefits they might qualify for but might not know about yet. A note that right now, this data relies on surveying and self-reporting from providers, but we’re aware that federal and state regulations are in flux, and we’re working to keep the data updated as policies shift.

But more importantly, this is a time to recommit to our mission, and to make this essential public health information even more accessible and understandable to all.

After months of careful design decisions, countless user tests from folks all over the US, and demos with partner organizations, the site is now live at the same link: plancpills.org. This new site launch is a culmination of our decade of work researching, documenting and catalyzing routes of access to abortion pills by mail and safe self-managed care in the US. Despite bleak news headlines, we see much to be hopeful about. Today 1 in 4 abortions are done via telehealth, not including thousands more per month via alternate networks, and these numbers are only growing.

The years of work by antis to shut down mifepristone is actually only making abortion pills more visible and mainstream. And people are recognizing the power of moving agency over abortion out of the government’s hands and back to the individual, where it has always belonged.

As Digital Director and Co-founder Amy Merrill said recently in Autonomy News, “We are existing in a particularly intense time here in the U.S., where things are rapidly shifting. We have received pushback about the question of, ‘Can we share this information?’ We think it's really important to continue to publish our research…We still get to talk about abortion, and we're going to keep doing that.”

If you’d like to chat about the new site, we can provide imagery or time on our calendars. We also have shareable walk-throughs available in English and Spanish.
